Yesterday I was going around lookin' for some dope poetry 2 read and i came across not one not two, not three, but four poets who said they were fed up with this site and that they were leaving gs.
3 of the four whom i read and respect.
So, with respect to those poets and thier views this is the conclusion I came to:
As of late there has been a thick cloud
hovering over what we have come to know as GS
a cloud which consists of ...
drama...
diss writing...
verbal fist fighting
cliques ....
"beef" within cliques
so on and so forth...
people going at eachother's heads in attempts
to gain recognition
or getting into it due to someone's text
being taken out of context
gettin' yourself all worked up cuz' your ego insists
on prompting you to retaliate to a dis that doesn't exist
with all of this going on ...
what saddens me the most
is now I am witnessing some poets whose pen I respect
totally fed up with what is happening on this site
these people seem to have lost the will to fight
but US being the true poets that we are
are we not here to write?
....right?
Some say that GS as a whole
has gotten out of control
and that between a few wack newbies
and maybe a few vets who contaminate
gs with hate
by ONLY reading and commenting
on those within thier own little cliques
that ghetto soul has turned into ghetto SHIT
yes ....
I will ...without hesitation
be inclined to agree
that though I've only been on for a year
gs is not what it used to be
but you see...
that is precisely my point ...
if YOU feel that gs is being run into the ground
that's exactly why we need you to stick around
only by TRUE poets being active and keepin this shit alive
can any semblance of real poetry hope to survive
I wrote pieces about my issues with this site
but I quickly realized complaining won't change a thang
'cuz the more you complain
the more things stay the same
and I finally came to see
that maybe by me continuing to do me
and continously scribing real poetry
is the only TRU way any of us can hope to change the game ...
